What is IEEE?

Founded in 1884, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a worldwide technical professional society devoted to advancing the theory and application of electrical engineering, electronics and computing.
IEEE serves 366.000 electrical engineers, scientists and other professionals in 147 countries. It is the world's largest technical professional society.
The Institute's purposes are most succinctly expressed in their mission statement: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers promotes the development of electrotechnology and allied sciences, the application of those technologies for the benefit of humanity, the advancement of the profession, and the well-being of its members.

What does the IEEE Student Branch Munich do?
The IEEE Student Branch Munich is one of more than 600 Student Branches worldwide. It exists since 1985 and was established with the intention to provide a student organization that will enrich the studies of electrical and computer engineering at the Technische Universität München and make students aware of the advantages of an IEEE membership.
During the academic year the IEEE Student Branche Munich organizes field trips, invites speakers and holds social meetings.
Many of these events are open to non-members as well.
