TUM CoC COM PhD Workshop 2018 on 4-6 July 2018

Technical University of Munich's Center of Competence on Communications (TUM-COM) invites you to the EI Faculty Graduate Center (FGZ-EI) PhD student workshop on the topic:

Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications and Applications for 5G

The workshop will take place at Umweltforschungsstation Schneefernhaus, Zugspitze 5, 82475 Zugspitze. The program consists of talks / tutorials from invited speakers, and poster sessions from PhD students. Full agenda and travel itinerary will be shared later with the registered attendees. Ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) is one of the trending research topics for 5G networks. Novel use-cases like industrial automation and autonomous driving are forming the motives for improved communication infrastructure. We believe that with this workshop we can bring together experts working on different aspects of URLLC, to facilitate and encourage the exchange of the ideas in the community.

We solicit posters with technical results and/or ongoing works on methods and approaches to achieve high reliability and reduce the latency in the conventional and future wireless systems, including but not limited to:

  • Architectures for providing end-to-end latency and reliability
  • URLLC applications, protocols and systems
  • Physical layer and signal processing techniques for URLLC
  • Novel MAC protocols / Radio resource management approaches
  • Novel multiple access techniques (NOMA / SCMA)
  • Ultra-reliable Machine Type Communication (uMTC)
  • Channel modeling for ultra reliability.

To participate, please submit your (1) name, (2) affiliation, (3) poster title and (4) abstract to the workshop organizers via email by May 30th, 2018. Optionally, you may also provide an extended abstract (1-2 pages, IEEE double column template), which we plan to make available on the workshop website. Please use the TUM poster guideline available here: portal.mytum.de/corporatedesign/index_html. Do not hesitate to contact the organizers for any questions. Please note: The number of participants is limited due to the workshop venue and to foster tight interaction. Selection of participants will be done based on the following: max. 2 participants per TUM-COM chair/professorship, diversity of topics, first-come-first serve otherwise. Due to sponsoring by the FGZ-EI for TUM COM PhD students main participation costs are paid by FGZ-EI. Details will be communicated after registration.
